September Newsletter - 2017

It is time!

Register for tryouts now utahlaxclub.com

Utah Lacrosse Club has TRYOUTS September 23rd and 30th at the RAC!  Our special guest coach will be MATT RAMBO the 2017 Tewaaraton and NCAA National Champion from Maryland!  Matt just signed on with Legends Lacrosse and so has the Utah Lacrosse Club.  The directors at Legends are the guys who got the West Coast Starz started and helped the Adrenaline lacrosse recruiting/tournament machine get rolling.  ULC coaches have been working with these guys for a decade in helping to get the best exposure for UTAH lacrosse and UTAH lacrosse players.  We will still have our excellent connections with Adrenaline and will continue to work with them.  Our ULC coaches have competed at NCAA Div 1, 2, 3, & the MCLA schools and we know & care about helping every kid find the right fit at the next level.  The first step in this equation is for you to sign up for tryouts at www.utahlaxclub.com. You can sign up to try out for the team or to be a practice player.  Either way you get a free tee shirt for trying out and you can guarantee the right size by signing up in advance. Nominations to teams and events such as Legends West, West Coast Starz and recruiting events will be sent through our new platform. If you are not registered you will not get the special invites.

Last year Utah Lacrosse Club filled the void at the last minute to provide the opportunity for Utah kids to play at a high level around the country.  We had coaches putting up their own money to get the club running and, all things considered & several championships later, it went pretty well.  However, we knew we could get better, so we sent out a survey to hear what YOU thought we needed to improve.  We listened and they biggest issue you had was with the Administrative side of things.  We have been on the phone with Legends every week for months and they have helped us construct our new website www.utahlaxclub.com.  The new platform will allow team alerts via text & email so coaches can better communicate with their teams.  The ULC website will also offer a team store for extra swag, a calendar of events, teamâ??s pages and a recruiting tab.  We are still tweaking some things, but you NEED to look at it, click on tryouts, view details, and get registered.  Everything we do will be through this site.

Utah Lacrosse Club is designed to help make you a better lacrosse player.  We are here to help middle & grade school players learn how to play the game right.  We will show JV players how to make varsity, we will teach varsity players how to excel and become leaders on their high school teams.  We will then show the players the path to playing college ball.  If you have the desire and are willing to put the work in, we are the only club positioned to help UTAH players find the right place at the collegiate level.  Our coaches have helped build the national equity necessary for college coaches to look at Utah players seriously.  ULC coaches have helped kids achieve their goals of playing at the following colleges:

Maryland, Yale, Cornell, Princeton, Rutgers, Marquette, Albany, Michigan, Harvard, Air Force, Furman, High Point, Colgate, Rhodes, Colorado-Mesa, Ohio Wesleyan, Rollins, Tufts, Southern Virginia, Oregon, Arizona St., Merrimack, Grand Canyon, Carthage, to name a few and, of course our excellent local schools: Utah, BYU, Westminster, UVU, Utah St, and now Weber St.

Our coaches all have jobs in the â??realâ?? world and, while we love the kids and love coaching, in order to succeed we need to approach this as a business.  We have fixed the admin issues, we have great, experienced coaches, and we have a slate of tournaments, which will provide exposure while competing against some of the best players in the country.  One of the biggest business assets an organization can have is networking.  On this front, we are the strongest club in Utah and one of the best in the West.  We have ULC coaches who have coached with the West Coast Starz on the east coast.  The new Legends teams, which were able to participate in practices run by the coaching staffs at Maryland, Loyola, Towson, and Johns Hopkins had all the Utah kids referred by ULC coaches.  We are the only club with a decade-long connection to Adrenaline/West Coast Starz, the Legends directors, and now we have an Under Armour coach on staff.  These connections help you be seen, but it has also made us better coaches.  We are offering all of this to you for the upcoming 2017-2018 Utah Lacrosse Club season!

We want this to run smoothly, so please sign up on the website NOW.  We can take walkups, but the more of those we have, the less time we have to coach, and the more anxiety the players have prior to tryouts.  Please sign up now so we can better organize the tryout with number appropriate drills, so you have a better chance of making the squad.

If you made it this far through the letter, thanks for your patience.  It is a big email, but we have a lot to offer, and felt it necessary to get it all out there.  On behalf of everyone at ULC and Matt Rambo (!!), we look forward to seeing you at the SLC Regional Athletic Complex on September 23rd!

Sincerely,

The Coaches and Executive Board of Utah Lacrosse Club
